We are a program of UrbanPromise Honduras (UPH), who’s broader mission is to inspire the children and youth of Honduras to reach their potential by equipping them with the skills necessary for life management, academic achievement, spiritual growth and leadership rooted in the Christian faith. We work hand in hand with the Youth Leadership Program at UPH, along with fellow UPH Staff and volunteers to ensure that our youth are receiving one-on-one mentorship and community discipleship from adults who are an integral part of our faith community.
UrbanPromise Honduras (UPH) is but one of several international sites around the world, all hosted under the umbrella of UrbanPromise International (UPI). The mission of UPI is to prepare emerging leaders to initiate, develop, and sustain Christian-based youth development organizations and to seed their new ministries as they serve vulnerable children and teens in our world’s most under-resourced communities.
The UrbanTrekkers experiential and expeditionary program began in Camden, NJ. Through a generous grant from the Wallace Research Foundation, UrbanTrekkers has been expanding to other UrbanPromise International sites. With resources for staff, training, and travel, we now travel on a Colorado and Utah summer expedition each summer which takes students and staff from UrbanPromise Camden, Wilmington, Trenton, and Honduras through five national parks over the course of two weeks. We continue to look for opportunities for UrbanPromise sites around the world to incorporate experiential learning into their programs.
Based in New York City, The Wallace Foundation is a national philanthropy that seeks to improve learning and enrichment for disadvantaged children and foster the vitality of the arts for everyone.
